After about two weeks on horseback, Prince Daenyeh'l Cheventalier was not in the greatest of moods. He stood up straight in his saddle and kept an emotionless mask on his face. His eyes however gave away his mood; they were considerably more icy than usual. His clothing was without a wrinkle, and he moved with his horse as if he'd been born on it. It wasn't difficult to see which of the Niendran soldiers he'd taken along as his guard and escort fancied men --at least a little.
The prince smirked to himself a little, then found himself thinking of Felicite; another male. The younger male had first been his friend, however their attraction for one another soon made that history. It wasn't long before they'd shared their first kiss.
Daenyeh'l had told his lover --that word didn't particularly apply, since they'd not moved their relationship to the bedroom-- however there was no other word that fit any better. When thinking of the bedroom, Daenyeh'l felt his cheeks warm a little, and he had to clear his throat.
Luckily for him --and the rest of the group-- they were now slowing from a trot to a walk as they entered the camp that was to be the Peace Conference. Colourful banners and tents made the place quite a sight, as did the number of people walking or riding about. He led his group through the maze of tents, until they reached the water. There he said that they were to set up camp.
While his people set up his tent and their own, Daenyeh'l went to greet some of the more important people already there. Things were tense, however people were being calm and polite for now.
About two hours later, the prince made it back to his part of the camp, and slipped into his tent, glad to have a moment of peace. Daenyeh'l could do with some rest.
Just when he was about to collapse onto his bed, a guard stepped in, excused himself as he saluted, then told him that he had a guest. Daenyeh'l nodded, rolled his shoulders back and came to the entrance of the tent. He stepped out to greet his guest with a polite smile; however when he laid eyes on who it was, Daenyeh'l's eyes widened and his jaw tightened. The breeze within the camp picked up to an alarming wind, and the afternoon sky darkened considerably.

Never before had he done anything so brash and reckless. He hadn't told his aunt and uncle he was leaving, simply packed his bag, took, his horse, and gone. He regretted it in someways. He was aching and tired each night they stopped, and he couldn't be too close to be seen, so he'd had to stay a safe distance away.
And he found himself lonely.
Ever since coming to court, he'd been surrounded by period- particularly one person. One Prince Daenyeh'l Chevantelier. He would have been lonely, he supposed, even if he'd stayed behind. And at least this way he wouldn't have to wait for the conference to be over, wouldn't have to endure the teasing and mocking of the court... not everyone approved of his friendship with the prince, and if only they knew that it was so much deeper than that...
He swallowed hard as he approached the tent. All of those sleepless, cold nights were going to pay off, weren't they? Daenyeh'l had told him he wasn't to come, but he couldn't very well stop him, now could he? And he hoped the other wouldn't turn him away now. The last thing he could bear was the thought of making the other upset with him when all he wanted to do was be around his... well, what was Daenyeh'l to him? Lover was far to intimate, and yet it was the closest description he could think of.
They had kissed, which was more than Felicite could say he'd ever done with anyone else, male or female, before.
As soon as he stepped foot inside the tent and the prince saw him, the whole atmosphere changed. Felicite's timid smile fell from his face and he looked to the floor, ashamed. "I'm sorry... but I didn't want to be left behind all alone. I wanted to be with you."

At Felicite's change in expression and the words that followed, Daenyeh'l felt guilt join the mix of emotions. This only cause the wind to gain strength. Some of the poorly-erected tents collapsed, and the shouts of men and women were heard all around the camp. The sun was out, where was this wind coming from?! It wouldn't be long before they all remembered that Niendra's crown prince had the ability to control weather.
Daenyeh'l didn't care for any of that in the moment. All that mattered was that Felicite had followed him here, and was now in his unsafe environment. Anything could happen...anything! His hands curled into fists at his side, and his jaw clenched. He'd been wishing that he had Felicite with him, and more guilt was filling his chest from that...
He growled and ran a hand through his hair, then then dismissed the guards. This conversation had to be private.
"I want to be near you too. But this is not safe."
The prince found himself glancing at the tent 'walls', they were just cloth really. Any weapon could penetrate cloth really, and they were surrounded by enemies, quite literally. He'd chosen the edge of the camp in order to gain some advantage. However it wouldn't take much effort or time for the Carthonians to surround this tent and put them all in danger.
"Come in..."
Daenyeh'l wasn't angry with his lover, he was simply angered by the situation. He wished that this tension didn't exist at all, that he didn't have to be here...but that he could be with Felicite at the cottage in stead. Heat coiled in the pit of his stomach and he had to sit on his bed.

Felicite whispered to the other male. "I might not be the most powerful in these lands, but that doesn't mean that I don't have my own source of strength and resolve." he appreciated the sentiment that Daenyeh'l was worried, but he'd been alone since the death of his twin. He knew how to take care of himself.
But he softened when Daenyeh'l allowed him to come inside the tent. "Thank you," he gave the crown prince a smile and stepped inside. It wasn't nearly as lavish as any of the other rooms he'd shared with Daenyeh'l, but it was still nice and fit for a king. Speaking of which, he didn't know how the prince's parents were doing. Out here, it would take a while for word to reach of any tragedy. Last he knew, the king and queen were slowly slipping...
Yet, Felicite knew better than to bring this subject up. Right now, Daenyeh'l needed to be as presentable and pleasant as could be if he was going to attempt to make any peace with the Carthonians. "I hope that the conference will succeed... there seems to be plent of people making an attempt," he gave a tiny smile, deciding that the subject of the conference was probably the best (and safest) to talk with the blonde man about.
"I know you'll do a great job," he reached out and touched Daenyeh'l's arm. Oh, he longed to kiss him- but he was afraid it had all been a dream. What if he tried and the other pushed him away, called him disgusting?

Daenyeh’l felt his temper rise again as he thought Felicite trailing along behind them, without a soul in the world aware of his presence. Anything could have happened. Thunder clapped in the distance, over the lake and he stood up from the bed, “That was pure luck!” He forced himself to keep from saying more, his thumb and forefinger massaging the bridge of his nose.
“I’m sorry…the thought of you out there alone with no protection, drives me a little crazy.”
The prince took a deep breath and paced the thick carpets laid out over the cooling ground. “Yes, many have come…” he lowered his voice, “But there is no way to tell how many have come with peace in their mind or something else.” Daenyeh’l was well aware that he could die any day during this conference. His heart swelled with the joy of having Feli near, but in his stomach was a storm of dread. He did not want his lover here in this hornets nest.
Daenyeh'l felt that he could lose his mind, having to sleep so close to the enemy --if he would sleep at all. He'd only just arrived, and already he felt exhausted, physically and mentally. And in that moment he felt selfish enough to hope that he and Feli just made it out of this alive and could go back home. Peace be damned...
He felt the other’s touch on his arm and acting on impulse he turned and pulled Felicite close to him, enveloping him in a ring of hard muscle. Daenyeh’l was torn between protecting this person who had become so important to him and doing what was best for Niendra. Sweet Lilith… responsibility sure was a bitter thing.

He didn't want ot fight with him anymore, didn't want to risk their friendship... their relationship. He wrapped his arms around the other's body, nuzzling against the strong chest.
"I didn't mean to worry you... I just... wanted to be here," tentatively, he reached up to touch the strong jawline and carress down the side of his face, meeting his eyes. He couldn't resist any longer. If the prince pushed him away, so be it.
He leaned in and captured his lips in a kiss. He adored the other male and cared about him deeply, more than he had cared about anyone ever since the great tragedy that had stolen his family away from him. But he wasn't going to think about any of that now. He had all of this before him... and Daenyeh'l was quite possibly the best thing that had ever happened to him.
He just hoped that he wouldn't wake from this dream to find out that it was all a lie. He didn't know what he would do if he was to lose Daenyeh'l now, now when he needed him more than ever.
"It's good to see you..." he whispered against Daenyeh'l's lips as he pulled back ever so slightly.

When Felicite returned the embrace, something fell into place and the world felt a little more normal. Some of the exhaustion eased out of Daenyeh'l's strong shoulders as he relaxed against his lover.
Daenyeh'l returned the kiss without hesitation, arms tightening around Feli a little. "I've missed you." It seemed cruel...he'd missed the other so much, thinking he was in Karenth...yet he'd been only a mile away --if that. When the other pulled away Daenyeh'l wouldn't have it, he was not quite done yet. The prince took a hold of the other's delicate jaw and pressed another kiss to his lips.
Felicite whimpered softly into the kiss, not in protest but in want. He clung to Daenyeh'l desperately as they kissed, afraid to let go. They had each other... it was all either of them needed. Unfortunately, the reunion was not to last.
--THE END--
