Durability – Level 2
Shizu had the ability with withstand blows that would break the bones of any normal person. During sparring, it is often commented on that she carries on despite numerous blows by men much older than her, who would normally be able to easily subdue a young woman. This power seems to be a continuation of her stubborn nature – she never gives up.
Innate Capability – Level 1
It is often commented that Shizu is somewhat of a walking dictionary. She knows a lot of information about a lot of different things, and this ability, coupled with a good memory, has served her well in intelligence-gathering missions. She picks up skills and abilities much quicker than the average person – a girl of her age would not be expected to be at all capable with weapons, however Shizu fights like someone who has gone through years of study.

For her age, Shizu is of average height and weight, although she has some considerable muscle that is plainly obvious from constantly moving around and keeping in shape rigorously by training and fighting. Not at all what you would consider frail or sickly, Shizu has a strong and sturdy look about her, and would never be described as tall or willowy, however due to years of eating very little and constantly on the run, she is slimmer than the average person, her mass made up by muscle. Despite this, she is very much a young woman and in the last three years as grown curves that changed her figure from that of a child into that of a woman.

Dark brown, the color of dark chocolate, and usually glittering with humor and mischief. Shizu has the look of a troublemaker that had her branded as a rebel in her younger days – and she eventually proved those predictions right and ended up becoming one. Her eyes are alive and vibrant with life and energy – however, this is deceptive as it hides what she is really feeling. She had never been described as an open book, and now she had learned how to mask her feelings totally, hiding what she really thinks and feels behind a cloak of good humor and boisterousness.
H A I R
Shizu has long black hair the colour of midnight, a colour so dark that it seems to absorb the light. She keeps it long as her one concession to her femininity, and although she doesn’t waste time caring for it, she does consent to carry a brush around with her on her travels. She keeps it held back, either in a ponytail or a braid, especially when she’s sure she’ll be fighting, as if an opponent were to grab it at the wrong time, it would give them one hell of an advantage.
I D E N T I F I E R S
Shizu has the tattoo of an eagle on her left shoulder, an animal that she fells embodies her goals – to fly freely and without constraint wherever life may lead her. She has her fair share of scars, as her ability can’t prevent a sharp blade from piercing her skin, and they give her a look of toughness that her slightly slimmer frame would otherwise overrun. The only notable scar is one of her left temple, where an arrow grazed her forehead – it is a reminder to her how easy it is to die.
A P P E A R A N C E
Shizu has long hair as dark as midnight falling to the centre of her back between her shoulder blades, which is usually tied back in a ponytail or braid. She has perfect skin, the only fault being a small scar on her left temple where an arrow grazed her forehead. Her eyes are brown, a rick colour like dark chocolate. They are usually sparkling with good humor and mischief, although they never broadcast what she really feels. She has a stubborn tilt to her jaw, hinting that she doesn’t like the rules and will break them at the first opportunity. That look branded her as a troublemaker in her younger days, and most people wouldn’t be surprised to find out she grew up into a true rebel.
Her build is sturdy and muscled after five years with the rebels, since she was a girl of fourteen. The years of training and on the run from the law have given her a slightly thinner look than she would be normally, and the years of fighting have given her a look of strength and resilience that many young women of her age lack.
She wears typical boys clothing – leather trousers and a plain shirt – and leather armor when necessary, although she doesn’t constantly wear the armor as she wants to project a harmless image. Along with the fact that dresses aren’t exactly a good thing to invest in for her, as she spends many hours on the road, either running away from or towards danger, she wants to fit in with her fellow rebels. She doesn’t pretend to be a boy – her figure is clearly that of a young woman – but neither is she a ‘girly-girl’ obsessed with her hair and makeup. She can wrestle and cuss as well as or better than many of the men, but she never pretends to be anything other than what she is – a healthy young woman with a sensuous nature, and she takes offense to being referred to as a boy.
Shizu conceals her weapons in the folds of her clothing, so there is little visible evidence that she is anything other than a normal young woman wearing slightly boyish clothes. This is an image she likes to present to the world, as it causes many of her enemies to underestimate her. When she’s around town for the specific goal to gather information, she carries herself with a slight limp and pretends to be a poor merchant-girl, barely making her way in the world. However, when she is amongst her fellow rebels or is simply travelling around – something she does less and less – she walks with a cocky stride that says yes, she does know how beautiful she is, and anyone can see how vibrant and full of life she is.

+The Dark/Nighttime
Shizu has a great and sometimes irrational fear of the dark, springing from the time when her father was taken away and jailed. She detests travelling at night and avoids it whenever possible, and always keeps a light on – either when she’s travelling or when she’s sleeping. She doesn’t sleep well anyway, either due to her fear or the dark or her relentless energy with is so much a part of her, and she usually spends the night reading or training.
+Cages/Prison/Small Spaces
Shizu, despite being unable to visit her father in prison, spent a traumatic night there with him when she was younger, and due to this has an ingrained fear of small spaces – such as a prison cell. She is slightly claustrophobic, and although she hides it very well and never allows it to interfere with a mission, she is constantly aware of it, a constant fear digging and hovering at the back of her mind.

Q U I R K S
Shizu has small problem with small spaces – enough of one that she can be considered slightly claustrophobic, and is frightened of small, cramped spaces. She also tends to drink and lot and suffer from a hangover the morning after. The way to tell if she’s really worried or upset about anything isn’t by facial expression or gross overdrinking – it’s when she doesn’t drink anything at all.
G O A L S
Despite Shizu’s outwardly laid-back and happy=go-lucky attitude, she is a determined young woman with one very clear goal, and her reason for joining up with the rebels in the first place – to see that Chancellor of Wyeshing begging for his life at her feet, or a situation like that. Ever since her father was dragged away and imprisoned for life without trial she had longed to see the Chancellor and his family gone from the world – permanently.
P E R S O N A L I T Y
At heart, Shizu is a risk taker. Her all-or-nothing attitude and constant disregard for the rules has gotten her into sticky situations in the past, and undoubtedly will in the future. She works hard, plays hard and gambles hard, drinking until the early hours of the morning and waking up with a killer headache a few hours later. She lives on very little sleep, either because of her fear of the dark and nighttime or because of the boundless energy and enthusiasm that are so much a part of who she is. An infamous card-shark, Shizu has been known to bet everything she has in order to win twice as much. Sometimes she wins, other times she loses, but she always accepts it whichever way the pendulum swings.
Shizu also has a streak of sensuousness deadly ingrained in the bold young woman she’s become, and she sees nothing wrong with going out for a few drinks and picking up a man and having a mutually satisfying and beneficial encounter – or several encounters. However, her fear of being trapped and enclosed prevent her from ever entering into a full-time relationship, and she sometimes fells pangs of loneliness when she looks back at her series of one-night-stands. A social creature, Shizu often goes out to the local tavern or inn and drinks with her companions. Although the rebels are wary of attracting too much attention, Shizu pushes at the restraint and often goes out despite orders not to do so.
She likes the freedom to go where she wants, when she wants and do whatever she pleases. She hates restraints of any kind, and despite joining the rebels and staying with them for five years now, sometimes toes the line and goes her own way. Her sense of freedom if something very important to her, but her desire to see the Chancellor gone and her father freed is something she wants even more, and if sensible enough to see that she will never do so on her own and live.
She has a boisterous and outwardly confident attitude, constantly making light of situations and pulling practical jokes. She enjoys nothing more than wrestling with the other rebels – most of them young men doomed to disappointment – and encourages the other women to take more active roles. Always ready for a good fight, Shizu is usually the one leading the charge and the last one to leave the fray.
Despite her flamboyant and carefree attitude, no one is more serious about her role in the rebellion than Shizu. Calm and icy-cold in a combat situation and reckless and fiery whilst at play, there are plenty of contradictions about Shizu that form the unique and slightly damaged young woman who is just coming into her own.
Her steadfast refusal to quit and her unerring loyalty make Shizu always a favourite in a fight. She absolutely does not know when to back down and has a determination bordering on being too stubborn – however these traits, no matter how annoying outside of battle, make her a favourite to be by your side during a fight. No one could ever fight as fiercely and strongly as someone who has lost everything – and Shizu has.
Despite her confidence in battle, Shizu hasn’t trained with weapons for all that long, and only ever uses daggers of throwing knives. She is one of the best unarmed fighters around, however, as she has focused all her efforts for the past four years in being the best she can be at fighting with no weapons. Her unwavering determination coupled with her ability to learn skills very swiftly is a winning combination and she knows it, so she tends to be a little cocky and overconfident when approaching a fight, which will probably get her into trouble in the near future.

Manzo Kiekon – Father – Aged 47 – Imprisoned
P L A C E . O F . B I R T H
Born in the city of Nagise, the capitol of Wyeshing. Her mother died during the birth, leaving her father to raise a young daughter all by himself.
H I S T O R Y
Shizu is the daughter of a once proud and wealthy merchant. Her mother died during Shizu’s birth, something that was all too common and still is. Her father was heartbroken, having loved her mother with all his heart, and he never quite recovered from his loss. He found himself, still a fairly young man of 29 alone and with a baby girl to raise all by himself. He travelled a lot with his caravan around Wyeshing, taking Shizu along with him instead of leaving her behind. Shizu loved her father, a man with a gentle manner and kind eyes. He disliked fighting and violence, never leading his caravan too far off the beaten track and employing a full set of bodyguards to protect it.
Shizu was seven when everything changed. They had returned to Nagise, her place of birth and the capitol of Wyeshing. It was there that one of the local guards took offense at something her father said or did. She never knew what it was, and whatever happened must have been fast because she never saw it. One moment her father was laughing beside her at the bar, smiling as her played with a strand of her hair and tugging it playfully, and the next to was on the floor, holding the side of his face.
Shizu made no move, but stayed frozen in place, tears filling her chocolate-brown eyes as the guard sneered and stepped towards her threateningly, clearly uncaring as to who he hurt. Her father, usually a kind and non-violent man was spurred into action by the danger to his daughter. Angrily he shoved the guard away from the young Shizu, causing the guard to stumble backwards into none other than the Chief Advisor to the chancellor himself.
The Chief Advisor immediately took offense and ordered her father arrested along with his young daughter, but decided to overlook the guards involvement in the matter. Her father tried to reach the young Shizu, who was by this point half out of her mind with fright, but the guards held him back and cuffed his hands behind his back. They were both dragged into closest dungeon, both of them being placed in separate cells. They were sneeringly told that it might be some time before they were release.
Shizu couldn’t see anything in the darkness of the cell, as it was now nighttime and the small window with bars across it was too high up for to get to and didn’t provide any light at all. She couldn’t see or even hear her father for some comfort, and she spent the entire 26 hours that she was in the cell curled into a small ball, rocking backwards and forwards. After just over a day in that cell, the guards came again and told her she had five minutes to say goodbye to her father – for good. He’d been found guilty of assault with intent and maybe even attempted murder of the Chancellor’s Chief Advisor.
The last memory she ever had of her father was that of a changed man. In the short time he’d been in his cell, her father’s face had gone grim and cold, but he couldn’t stop the love and fear on his face as he silently caressed Shizu’s face through the bars. For the five minutes allowed to them, they said barely a word and just held one another. Her father had not been permitted a formal trial, and his sentence was life. His previous money and wealth had been stripped from him and taken as a fine for his crimes, and he had no financial means anymore of providing for his young daughter. Neither did he have any other family who would look after Shizu whilst he could not. They had only ever had each other – and now they were both about to love everything.
Shizu was left practically an orphan, and after six years of living in an orphanage in Nagise, as close to her father as she was ever going to get, she decided that enough was enough. She didn’t want this life of poverty, of constantly fight of the bigger kids who wanted to beat her up or worse. Of constantly being hungry because there was never enough food and the larger and stringer kids always took what little there was. Of having to steal and beg what little money she had just to get by, and going back ‘home’ to sleep in a cold and dirty pile of straw back in the orphanage.
It wasn’t long before rumors spread of a rebellion, whispers of a group that may be rallying against the Chancellor. They were only whispers, of course, and the Chancellor dismissed them as fanciful rumors, not believing anyone would care oppose him and risk a long a painful death. Shizu left the orphanage – no one cared enough to come after her – and began to silently and subtly ask questions and follow leads that might lead her to a highly secret organization that didn’t officially exist. She must have raised a few red flags, because it wasn’t long before she was approached and questioned as to why she was asking the questions she was. Her answer was simple – because she intended to see the Chancellor gone and her father freed, one way or another, and she knew, even at the age of fourteen, and she could not do so alone.
Curious of this young girl with fire in her eyes and hatred buried so deep that it smoldered behind closely guarded eyes, the rebels took her in, and there she has remained to this day – just waiting for her moment. The small acts of silent resistance will never be enough for her – and eventually she may decide that things are better done her way after all…
