M A G I C ? Gideon can feel the emotions of others but cannot control them. He can choose who he feels the emotions of at any one time, or a whole room, if he wants.
He is also able to feel the emotions of objects and rooms, even view glimpses of memory in very few cases, but only if the memory is very powerful and quite recent. He can block it out if he chooses, but that is as far as his control of this power goes.

B U I L D Lean, but not immediately recognizable as muscular, you have to look closer to see the long rope-like muscles that make up his physique.
E Y E S Gideon's eyes are an ice blue that seem to get deeper the longer one looks at them, his gaze is quite piercing.
H A I R His hair is a shade of brown that borders the line between chestnut and mahogany. He usually keeps it at a medium length, but not long enough to get in the way. It falls in soft waves.
I D E N T I F I E R S None.
A P P E A R A N C E Gideon has never really thought of himself as handsome, but honestly couldn't care less if he was. In truth he is quite good looking if you take the time to notice. His eyes are open and kind, his face in general seems to have a life about it that usually makes other people feel at ease in his presence, if they notice him. He is slightly shorter than the average male, but not by much. His body appears thin and can look gangly at times, but he does have quite a fine musculature, it simply takes some looking. In fact the same can be said about his general appearance, not particularly noticeable or really interesting at first glance but once you look closer Gideon is simply riddled with surprises, once you scratch the surface.
L I K E S The outdoors, socializing, exercising his powers, reading, listening to music, peace and quite in small doses, learning about people in general, Estelle
D I S L I K E S Being totally on his own, sickness and hurt in anyone, anyone who feels the need to hurt anyone without good reason, Count Llewynfirth, seeing Estelle sick and with no memory of their love
F E A R S Never seeing Estelle again, watching Estelle die, dieing before he has had the chance to live.
S T R E N G T H S His powers, diplomatic, intelligent, very good fighter if given a need
W E A K N E S S E S His need to always be with people, his tendency to jump to conclusions about what causes emotions, his impulsive nature.
Q U I R K S When he doesn't understand something, or is listening or thinking intently he tilts his head to one side. He is prone to a half smile when things go his way.
G O A L S Restore Estelle's health in whatever way he can think of. It is his long term goal to be with Estelle for the rest of their lives, even if he has to start their relationship over again, he wants to make something of himself in order to become someone it would be acceptable for her to marry. But her health and happiness are his main focus right now.
P E R S O N A L I T Y As with his appearance, there are many qualities that Gideon possesses that one would not expect. He is, for instance, an expert with knives, and keeps one on him at all times, for self defense.
He is very independent and knows his own mind very well. He will defy the wishes of those above him if he knows that they are wrong or will put something or someone he cares about in any kind of danger. Despite that, he is capable of seeing the right path in most things, he just chooses not to if it is not something he likes.
His ability to Feel what others are feeling makes him very diplomatic as it allows him the know the incentive for most decisions. However he cannot know what caused these emotions he does leap to conclusions prematurely and this has gotten him into very hot water more than once.
He is quite impulsive, and tends to make spur of the moment decisions.
His need to be around people stems from his power as it is much easier to deal with other people's emotions than it is with his own.

Gideon's mother died giving him life. Anthea and Danon's marriage had been an arranged match, but still Danon mourned his wife's passing and found solace in his only son, thus Gideon grew up in a loving houshold, even if it was just himself and his father, he felt nothing lacking.
Danon taught his son the art of wielding knives because he believed that every man needed to know some form of combat and Gideon had no interest in swordplay.
Then, when he was fourteen, Gideon's father came down with a terrible fever that baffled the healers. Danon died after giving Gideon the advice to go out into the world and make more of himself than his father had and a knife that was plain at first glance, but the black handle was engraved with a few words of the old tongue and a border of ivy leaves. Gideon promised to do as his father bade and, little more than a boy and only half prepared to face the wide world, set out with his knife in a concealed sheath hidden in his boot and his father's last words lingering in his mind to find his fortune. Little did he know what else he would find.
He quickly managed to find himself a place in the household of Count Llewynfirth. It was not a very prestigious position he found himself, but it was a step. In any case, after two years in the household it was announced that the Count's son, Jaespehr, was to marry the only daughter of Duke and Duchess Sterling. Gideon acknowledged the fact and was glad to be chosen to go along on the coming trips to the Sterling place but he didn't attach any true significance to the event. He had no idea that his life was about to change without warning.
Gideon was taking a stroll in the gardens on a particularly nice day and had just stopped for a rest under a tree when his destiny literally fell from the sky. He had felt a brief flash of fear that did not come from himself before he found himself holding the most beautiful girl he had ever seen.
In the weeks that followed he found, to his horror, that she was Estelle Sterling, Jaespehr's intended. That didn't stop him from falling deeply in love with her and as the months progressed he found himself able to think of almost nothing else. He was overjoyed when she told him that she felt the same.
But this period of joy was to end with a ball at the Llewynfirth estate. They met in the gardens and, whilst sharing a passionate kiss, Count Llewynfirth stumbled upon the couple. The man was furious and pulled them apart. He then thrust Gideon out of his service. However, the young servant pulled a 'you can't fire me, I quit' scene and managed to secure a position amongst the servants of the Sterling household.
After the ball Estelle became ill, it worried Gideon no end and what was even more frustrating was that in the days when the girl he loved was in bed with a raging fever he wasn't even allowed to go to her. For day after day he fretted and feared, desperately praying that he would not have to witness a replay of his father's death. When the fever finally broke he was one of the last to know and, disregarding all attempts to keep him away, he raced to her room. When he got there he not only found that she was still sick, but had no memory of her feelings for him. For a few days he had no idea what to do, but realized that it was Estelle who needed his help and that he could be content as long as he could see her, he also blames himself. He knew of Estelle's attraction even before she did, due to his power of empathy, but he still indulged in his own selfish wants and allowed them to become close. In any case, it is too late now and as he is now able to see her almost any time he wants he finds some semblance of happiness.

Gideon slunk through the servant's quarters, making as little sound as possible, his empathy power thrown wide, waiting for a jolt of surprise that would surely accompany someone spotting him. But the night was still and heavy with the dulled emotions of sleep. As he found his own bed and lay on his back with his hands cradling his head as he thought over his last meeting with Estelle, in which he had given her a book of fables. She had appreciated the gift, her happiness had made him smile. He felt that it was the least he could do as it was his fault they were in this mess. If only he had rejected her love, but the thought send a stab of pain though his chest so strong he almost cried out. No, he couldn't even think that, for it would have caused her pain and that was the one thing he could never do. It tore him apart to see her so ill, so unlike her bright self. He could feel her longing, and could only guess that she longed for freedom from her current sickness as all memory of their love was gone from her mind surely she couldn't miss it, could she? Not like he did, who remembered every second of the time they had spent together. Still, it was a nice fantasy, that she longed for him the way he so desperately longed for her. She always appeared happy when he came to see her. He turned over and attempted to sleep, with Estelle's smiling face dancing behind his eyes.
